2016 Gold Pick Award Recap
Weeks have passed since we celebrated the PRSA Colorado Gold Pick award winners for the stellar work they did in 2015. By now, the afterglow has faded, and the enthusiastic posts all over social media about that night are buried under countless feeds of current events.
This year the stakes for those who submitted their work were a bit higher, as the chapter received 107 entries, which is up from last year’s total of 81. Keep in mind, when those judging the entries don’t feel any submissions for a specific category warrant high enough scores to receive awards, there are no recipients in that category for the year. In other words, it really is the best campaigns, tactics and PR teams that receive Gold Picks.
Returning to emcee Gold Picks this year were Chris Parente and Kathie J., co-hosts of the “Colorado’s Everyday Show” on Fox 31. The duo was a huge hit with event attendees, delighting the crowd with their commentary on fashion, humorous antics and interactions and ability to engage the audience. More than a few people asked if the Gold Picks committee would consider asking the duo to come back in 2017.
For public relations professionals or journalism and communication students looking to network with influencers in the PR community, the Gold Picks dinner is one of the best annual events to connect with the most successful and established PR pros in the Denver area. (If you missed this year, plan to attend next year. The Gold Picks usually take place the first week in May.)
With 2016 nearly half-over, it is not too early to consider submitting for the 2017 Gold Picks. Think about any exceptional work you’ve created or on which you’re working. While the competition in this market is stiff, there is always opportunity for talented, creative and dedicated public relations professionals to receive recognition.
Congratulations to all of the 2016 PRSA Colorado Gold Pick award winners!
